The Omega stood for many things in the Ancient Greek world. It was a letter, a syllable, and a number; 800. The globular cluster, Omega Centauri, has Omega included in its name. Mathematically it is the maximum limit to a set. Most importantly, Omega means the end, the last. It was also be found on some Ancient Spartan Shields as a warning to their enemies letting them know that ‘the end is near’.
